Car insurance firm Admiral is celebrating a milestone after reaching its 20th year of operations.
The provider, which was launched in January 1993, currently has 13 brands to its name across the globe and boasts 3.5 million customers.
Admiral, which started out with one brand and 57 members of staff, now has 6,500 people on its payroll, with almost 5,000 of these based in the UK.
Turnover at the company has climbed from £18 million in 1993 to more than £2 billion in 2011, with the business valued at around £3 billion after floating on the London Stock Exchange in September 2004 at a value of £711 million.
Henry Engelhardt, chief executive officer at Admiral, said the first two decades have flown by, adding the company has grown considerably in this time.
Mr Engelhardt stated: “One of the things I’m most proud of is our inclusion in Best Companies to Work competitions every year they’ve been run.”
He added the provider was also named as the top organisation in the UK in the Great Place to Work Best Workplaces List 2012.
