Health insurance provider SimplyHealth is helping to kit out a Bristol scout troop with new equipment by providing a four-figure donation.
The firm handed the Phoenix Scout Group a cheque for £1,000 after holding a dress down day in its Bristol offices.
According to a statement the cash will be used to help kids between the ages of six and 14 and will go towards buying equipment such as camping gear .
There are 50 scouts in the group and the donation should help many of them achieve the badges they are working towards.
Scout leader Jerry Elliot explained that the troop was very grateful to the health insurance firm for its “fantastic support”.
“As a not for profit organisation we rely heavily on funding from the local community and we are delighted that we were nominated to receive the proceeds of SimplyHealth’s dress down day,” she said.
SimplyHealth spokesman Jamie Wilson added that the firm was pleased to be able to provide the organisation with much-needed funding to help offer kids the chance to try new activities and learn useful skills.
The Scout Movement was founded by Robert Baden-Powell in 1907 and had its first camp at Brownsea Island in England.
