Cars used as a home away from home car insurer finds

A study carried out by Admiral Car Insurance has found that for a number of Brits, the car is a home away from home.

According to the research, one in ten people in the UK spend more time in their cars than they do in their houses and this figure rises to one in five for those living in London. Admiral Insurance have also revealed that many people see this time spent in their car as quality time they get to spend by themselves and that 62 per cent of Brits prefer not to carry passengers when they drive.

Sue Longthorn, the managing director of Admiral Insurance, said: “In a world where social networking and being constantly available are so valued, it might be that motorists are seeking some solace in their cars.”

Launched in 1993, Admiral Insurance is specifically aimed at city-living customers who drive hot hatches and traditionally pay higher than average car insurance premiums .
