Direct Line has announced a new sale for householders looking to purchase home insurance.
The provider revealed would-be buyers can enjoy an introductory discount of 30 per cent, in addition to a 20 per cent reduction when they arrange the cover online.
To help promote the deals, comedians Chris Addison and Doon Mackichan - famous for her roles in Smack the Pony and Knowing Me, Knowing You with Alan Partridge - have been enlisted to appear in the group's television adverts.
Stuart Curson, head of home insurance at Direct Line, noted: "After a Christmas spending spree, January is the perfect time to sort out your finances and home insurance is an important part of this."
The industry figure added some people may find it tempting to cut their expenditure on protection, but warned this could prove more costly in the long run.
One area customers may be concerned about this winter is burst pipes, but the Association of British Insurers has noted adequate home insurance can help soften the blow for those who suffer from such instances.
