A health insurance provider has donated thousands of pounds to charity, which will help send struggling families on holiday to Blackpool.
SimplyHealth has handed Home-Start Wakefield &District a cheque for £3,700 and the money is set to go towards paying for about 300 people to take a short vacation they may not otherwise have been able to afford.
Sam Gravil is a family group worker with the charity and said it was delighted by the support from the health insurance firm.
“Every year we try to organise a fun trip for all the families we support and who may not be able to afford a day trip away,” he said.
“This year’s trip to Blackpool will see 300 people looking at life underwater at the Sea Life Centre and playing in the waves on Blackpool beach.”
SimplyHealth spokesperson Raman Sankran added that the health insurance firm is happy to support such a worthy local initiative.
In other news, life insurance provider Royal London 360 has announced that it is to absorb the cost of credit card charges on premiums for its whole-of-life customers.
