With the recent civil unrest in Egypt, holidaymakers travelling to the region are being urged to check their travel insurance policies .
According to Sarah Findlay, Marketing Manager of insurewithease.com, travellers should check the Foreign and Commonwealth Office website to see if it’s safe to travel to their chosen destination.
She said: “This information is updated regularly. If the FCO has advised against travel, your travel insurance policy will no longer provide cover if you travel against their advice. In this situation travellers should contact their tour operator for the latest information. If a tour operator is unable to operate the holiday due to FCO advice they have a duty to offer an alternative holiday or a full refund.”
The FCO is currently only advising against travel to select areas in Egypt and travel cover outside of those areas, therefore, remains unaffected. offering holidaymakers the same high level of protection. However, travellers are advised to check with their travel insurer if they are unsure about what they are covered for.
