The Best and Worst Places to Live For Cheap Car Insurance

According to a new study carried out by SmartWitness Incident Cameras, Bristol, Aberdeen and Plymouth are the places to be for cheap car insurance.

The average amount people pay in Bristol is £177.03, the people of Plymouth get a lower average of £170.53, but Aberdeen residents could can see as low as £156.98 per year on average.

The worst average premiums are given out in certain parts of Birmingham, where it rockets up to £1,101.62 per year.

Research has found that one major reason driving insurance premiums is so high is because of the high number of bogus whiplash claims, which also apparently centre on Birmingham.

The insurance figures were calculated by finding out what a 43 year old father of three, working as a retail accountant and driving a 2.0 litre BMW that was parked on a street, and drives about 6,000 miles a year.

The worst place to live to take out insurance are:

  • B9 – Bordesley Green;
  • B10 – Small Heath;
  • B11 – Sparkhill, Tyseley;
  • B66 – Smethwick, Bearwood, Sandwell;
  • B8 – Washwood Heath, Ward End, Saltley.

And the best places are:

  • Aberdeen;
  • Plymouth;
  • Bristol;
  • Oxford;
  • Edinburgh.
