The AA, which is widely known for providing emergency treatment for members’ cars, has entered the private medical insurance market in conjunction with AXA PPP healthcare .
There are three levels of cover on offer for both AA members and non-members. Also, a dedicated 24-hour helpline will provide expert information on health issues.
Simon Douglas, director of AA Insurance, said: “This is a logical expansion of our health and life related products which include life insurance and critical illness cover . The AA has built a trusted reputation amongst its 15 million members for helping to ensure the health of their cars. Looking after the health of our members and their families is an obvious step and we’ve launched into private medical insurance market.”
All levels of cover include surgical procedures, radiotherapy and chemotherapy (including NHS cash benefit if members receive these treatments free on the NHS) and CT, MRI and PET scans, as well as day-patient and inpatient care.
