Couples jetting off on a romantic break this Valentine’s Day have been urged to ensure they have adequate travel insurance.
American Express Insurance Services has revealed that Venice, Paris and Rome are the top destinations for a loved-up holiday, but that Britons should still make sure they take out the right level of travel insurance.
The travel insurance provider warned that love-struck holidaymakers hoping to propose on Valentine’s Day could find themselves facing a major financial loss if the ring is not properly covered.
“Only a few travel insurance policies offer more than £250 cover for valuables and should the ring be lost or stolen, romantic suitors could be financially unlucky in love,” commented Joanne Field, marketing manager for American Express Insurance Services.
Travel insurance policies can cover a range of factors for lovers heading abroad, including flight cancellations, luggage problems and travel delays.
Sainsbury’s Bank recently warned that travellers heading for distant climes should particularly consider travel insurance, especially if they are going to take part in potentially risky sports and activities.
