Go Travel Insurance has advised customers that it will be amending its travel insurance policy following the recent terror threats in UK airports.
Travel insurance policies do not usually cover valuable items such as cameras when stored in the hold of the aircraft.
However, Go Travel Insurance will be amending its policy, so that valuable items usually stored in “carry-on” bags will now be covered when stored in the aeroplane’s hold.
The travel insurance provider also advises travellers to take as little as possible in their hand luggage, providing a suggested list on its website.
Christian Young, chief executive of Go Travel insurance, commented: “Obviously we are concerned with the developments.
“Go Travel Insurance would like to make it clear that we will discuss and update all our customers personally on any concerns they may have about travelling.”
The threat arose after officials were concerned about the possibility of liquid explosives being used to cause terrorist damage on several UK flights.
Many travellers may have needed to claim on travel insurance, after various flights were delayed and cancelled at several airports.
