Post Office Home Insurance customers are getting an early Christmas present.
The company has announced that it will reward its policyholders by increasing their cover by ten per cent between November 25th and January 25th – one month before and one month after Christmas day.
It says that homes are at more risk of falling victim to burglaries during the holiday period because of a busy social calendar keeping residents away from their properties for longer and darker nights.
Post Office’s head of home insurance Paul Havenhand said: “If the worst does happen, Post Office customers can rely on the additional protection provided to replace damaged or stolen gifts.”
He added that people who have a policy with the company can feel “secure” that they automatically have a little extra protection over the festive season.
Post Office has also released a series of tips and advice to help as many people as possible from getting broken into.
Among the pointers are remembering to keep a photographic record of expensive items that have been bought in case they are stolen and not to leave presents visible to passers-by.
