Where a car is parked can affect car insurance premiums, especially in a city, reveals research from AA Insurance .
A car that is kept locked in a garage overnight, can save the consumer between 7% (in a rural community) and 35% (in an inner city environment ) on their car insurance. According to research from AA Personal Loans, most parked cars are vandalised on residential streets.
Car parks, particularly multi-storey car parks, are usually regarded as dangerous places to park. However, the study found that drivers are twice as likely to have their cars damaged on a residential street as in a supermarket car park and three times more than likely than if their car was parked in a multi-storey car park.
If a locked garage is not available, a doctor’s surgery a hospital car park, outside a school, an airport car park or outside a restaurant are the next best places to park. Each of these locations make up for only 3 per cent of car vandalism.
