New research has found that surgeons and doctors are the most likely to have an accident while driving and claim it on their insurance.
Apparently, these high end professionals are almost 100 times more likely to cause and claim for a crash that is their own fault than a building society clerk.
Moneysupermarket.com analysed 2 million accident claims, and found that 9 out of 10 of the occupations deemed most likely to cause an accident are from the medical sector.
Topping the list is surgeons, who were found, for every 1,000 policies taken out, to have claimed 361 times in the last 5 years.
GP’s claimed 333 times per 1,000.
Building society clerks, in a total contrast, made just 4 claims per 1,000 policy holders.
The other occupations that claimed the most included hospital consultants, dentists and nurses.
One theory put forward by Kevin Pratt of Moneysupermarket.com for the high number of claims from the medical profession is down to the high stress levels that go with these jobs that cause people to be more accident prone.
“There is no doubt that surgeons, GPs and health visitors are all stressful jobs,” he said “so lack of time or tiredness could mean that these drivers are more likely to make an at fault claim.”
