Direct Line creates additional flood support in Gloucester

Direct Line has deployed an emergency response vehicle to help victims of the winter floods in Gloucester.

The vehicle, known as CHARLIE (Customers’ Helpful and Responsive Link in Emergencies), is based in Sainsbury’s in St. Ann Way. Customers can drop in for advice regarding insurance claims and there will be office space inside the vehicle for staff to work in.

Katie Lomas, head of Direct Line home insurance, said: “Our priority is reassuring householders with Direct Line home insurance policies and getting them back in their home as quickly as possible.”

Direct Line urged customers to get in touch if their house had been damaged and that if they needed to move to alternative accommodation, this would most probably be covered under their insurance policy. However, customers are strongly advised to confirm this first with someone from the claims team.

Customers are also encouraged to take photographs of any damage where possible as it might prove helpful in settling claims. In addition it is recommended that all important documents are securely stored in water-tight bags, preferably in the top floor of the property.
