The Co-operative Pet Insurance has announced a discount for customers who purchase cover online for their four-legged friends before the end of May.
Launched in recognition of National Pet Month, the scheme offers 20 per cent off their yearly premium and comes at a time when domestic animals become increasingly active due to the longer evenings and improved weather.
Lee Mooney, head of pet insurance at the provider, said: “Unfortunately, increased physical activity and time outdoors can lead to animals getting injured and developing seasonal allergies, such as hay fever .”
Mr Mooney explained taking out suitable cover will give owners greater peace of mind that the cost of treatment will be kept down should anything unforeseen happen to their dog or cat .
Customers of The Co-operative have the option of two types of protection in the form of Classic and Select Plus, with the latter designed to offer a solution in instances where pets develop medical conditions that require ongoing treatment, such as arthritis .
Advice offered by the group for the upcoming months include ensuring the animals are wormed on a regular basis, as well as keeping food and water replenished and cleaning feeding bowls.
