Tesco increases pet insurance limits

Tesco Pet Insurance has increased the vet fee cover limits provided for a number of its policies.

The organisation announced an expansion for both its standard and extra products after having taken into account the views of policy holders from across the UK.

Limits have therefore been extended on its standard version from £2,500 to £3,000 per condition for new customers, while those already on the provider’s books have the option to upgrade when they come to renew their policy.

Extra cover consumers – those looking for long-term illness protection – now have the opportunity to select between £4,000 per condition or a limit of £7,500.

Julie Hopes, managing director of insurance at Tesco Bank, said people have expressed concern about escalating vet fees, adding: “At a time when other providers are withdrawing their products, we think it’s important to offer our customers peace of mind with affordable polices that meet their needs.”

A vetfone service is also provided by the organisation, which offers people – who qualify if they reside in the UK, Channel Islands or the Isle of Man – access to a veterinary nurse at all times.
