Older people are being advised to make sure they are completely open and honest with companies before taking out single trip travel insurance .
Elderly people looking to secure annual insurance before they head off on a single trip travel holiday are being urged to provide a complete medical history to their policy provider before committing to a deal, says an expert.
Stewart Ricoh, general manager of Staysure.co.uk, warns that it is “critical” that older members of society seeking travel insurance disclose all details about their well-being, as concealing certain conditions can result in dangerous consequences. He said: “When someone is unwell or recovering from treatment abroad, the added financial misery can be devastating. True and accurate declaration of pre-existing medial conditions is the most important part of taking out travel insurance.”
His comments follow a recent study by Age UK Enterprises which found that there has been a 21 per cent increase in sales of annual worldwide travel insurance policies to over-55s at the company.
