It analysed the cover offered from a number of providers and found that some of the policies do not include provisions for accidental damage, while others do not provide protection for possessions outside of the home .

Homeowners can, on average, expect to pay 143 per cent more for a premium deal, however this will provide them with many “essential details” such as alternative accommodation allowances, emergency cover and seasonal increases to cover periods like Christmas.
