Insurance is not deeply affected by recession says Admiral

The recession has not had as much of an impact on Admiral insurance, as it has with other companies in the economy, because of the nature of the product, according to a representative from the firm.

People services manager, Ceri Assiratti, indicated that car insurance is a compulsory purchase, so the difficult economic climate has not affected the business as significantly as many other sectors. She made her comments following the news that Admiral insurance, which incorporates Elephant, Diamond and Confused.com, had published its recruitment figures.

They showed the firm has hired 490 people so far in 2010 and is on course to appoint another 261 by the end of June. Ms Assiratti said: “We’re delighted to be bucking the trend and are able to take on so many new members of staff in a difficult time.”

Recently, the company revealed UK motorists drive an average of 7,755 miles each year and that this mileage has increased by 4.5 per cent since 2000.
