Property owners with landlord insurance could save money by installing insulation

Buy to let property owners with landlord insurance could benefit financially by making improvements to the environmentally friendly standards of their rental properties .

According to a recent study, Britons are wasting £2.5 billion by not laying suitable and effective roof insulation . Price comparison site Confused.com says that landlords could save £145 annually in bills by ensuring good quality loft insulation is installed and they may be able to save a further £110 by installing cavity wall installation .

Lisa Greenfield, the company’s energy analyst, recommends that property owners should look at the roofs of their rental properties during any snowfall and throughout the harsh winter weather conditions to see if improvements could be made. A significant sign is melted ice or snow on the roof which is evidence of heat escaping.

She said: “It is worth getting in touch with the local council to check eligibility for grants. Any household with a resident aged 70 or over qualifies for a 100 per cent grant for insulation .”
