Households in the UK that choose multi-car motor insurance instead of taking out separate policies for each motor could be
losing out on savings, according to Swiftcover .
The insurer revealed that one-third of British families could be spending up to 60 per cent too much on car insurance by not researching the cheapest way to cover more than one vehicle. With increasing numbers of homes now being able to afford multiple cars, the firm has advised drivers to look into the prices offered by certain firms on different vehicles .
Tina Shortle, marketing director at swiftcover.com, said: “Drivers who want to get the lowest possible premiums should always be sure to check all of the available options, as its clear that using one insurer for both is not necessarily the cheapest option.”
Recently, Swiftcover also found that as many as 36,000 parents in the UK are committing car insurance fraud by putting their child’s names down as a spouse or partner to bring down premiums.
