Holidaymakers may be paying up to 500 per cent more than they need to for their travel insurance policies, according to Confused.com.
The price comparison website highlighted statistics from the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) and Datamonitor which revealed that 40 per cent of Brits’ insurance policies were sold through agents last year. Confused.com says that this figure shows that not enough people are shopping around for the best travel insurance deals and as a result are losing money .
Head of travel insurance at the website Steve Williams stated: “While holiday insurance is a must-have, it makes little sense to pay through the nose for it, especially when shopping around for a better deal is likely to save consumers money.”
Moneysupermarket.com recently advised Brits who will be driving in a foreign country to examine their car insurance policies thoroughly to see exactly what they are covered for.
