Around 400,000 young Brits could invalidate their travel insurance by drinking excessively on the slopes this season, according to EssentialTravel.co.uk.
With greatly discounted ski packages, this winter’s heavy snowfall and the constant lure of the after-ski party scene, an increasing number of 18 – 28 year olds are booking last minute winter sport breaks across Europe. However, EssentialTravel.co.uk is worried that young British skiers and boarders who drink in the bars and then hit the slopes will nullify their insurance if they are found to be over the limit.
Stuart Bensusan, Director at EssentialTravel.co.uk, said: ” Snowboarders and skiers generally travel with expensive equipment and realise they risk injury so, after families, are the group most likely to take out travel insurance . But what most fail to realise is skiing or boarding, while drunk, invalidates their insurance. This means if they have a few drinks then are injured, or injure someone else on the slopes, it’s as good as having no insurance at all.”
