The most active speed cameras in the UK have been revealed, which are collectively responsible for seeing drivers collect a whopping one million penalty points.
Points such as this, which could result in drivers losing their licences or at least facing a hike in their car insurance premiums when the time to renew their policies comes around, have been dished out to speeding drivers.
And the Daily Telegraph reports that one of these cameras has been flashing drivers at a rate of one every two minutes over the last 12 months, probably being responsible for hundreds of car insurance price rises and bans on its own.
Paul Smith, the founder of driving campaign site Safespeed, told the publication: “These 100 sites will convince the public that speed cameras are only about money and never about safety .
“Drivers know – as if by instinct – that speed cameras don’t help them drive more safely.”
Possibly enraged by a rise in their car insurance policies, some drivers in the UK have taken vigilante action against speed cameras, setting them alight or running them over in a lorry .
