Life insurance unaffected by high-risk jobs, says firm

Life insurance premiums are unaffected by high-risk jobs – according to Life Direct – as there is no evidence that workers in hazardous work environment will die sooner.

Employees in high-stress jobs will not suffer from higher life insurance premiums the organisation has declared, but their income protection insurance could be affected if they have to take more days off sick due to stress.

Kieran Platt, an independent financial advisor and director of Life Direct, states that domestic electricians will have the same life insurance premiums as everyone else even though some people may think of it as a dangerous profession.

“Teachers pay more for income protection than office workers do, because statistically teachers take more time off work sick because of stress or whatever. But for life insurance they pay the same as everyone else,” he remarks.

Mr Platt warns that soldiers serving in a war zone face higher life insurance premiums and may even struggle to be covered at all by some companies.

Life Direct offer the facility to compare life insurance quotations online.
