Animal owners are being urged to ensure that they have adequate pet insurance to protect their four legged friends on bonfire night.
Moneysupermarket.com cites RSPCA research, which indicates an 82 per cent rise in calls for “injured or distressed” animals on November 5th 2006.
The price comparison company warns that animal lovers should make sure that their pet insurance covers both potential medical bills if their furry friend is injured, but also any financial losses incurred by damage to the animal.
Additionally, some pet insurance policies will include the payment of a financial reward, to assist the recovery of a lost animal, the company notes.
Richard Mason, director of insurance at Moneysupermarket.com, said: “This is arguably the most traumatic and dangerous time of year for our four-legged friends so owners must take steps to protect them.
“We would urge owners to keep their pets safe inside this bonfire night and check their insurance is adequate.”
Earlier this week, Insurancewide warned that those planning a bonfire or fireworks display should ensure that their home insurance policy is adequate to cover any potential damage.
