Britons have again been urged to check that their home insurance is adequate over the Christmas period.
Cornhill Direct has warned that UK residents without adequate home insurance could face a “finance nightmare” over the holidays, should a burglar break into their property.
The company also noted that home insurance providers expect a surge in claims for lost Christmas presents due to theft.
Britons should check that their home insurance policy offers additional cover to replace any lost items during this period, the company said.
Mark Bishop, a spokesman for Cornhill Direct, remarked: “Christmas is a time to relax and enjoy the company of friends and family, but the threat of burglary can’t be ignored and householders must be more security conscious than normal.”
He added that Cornhill Direct’s home insurance policy automatically offers an extra ten per cent of cover during this period to account for any potential losses.
Barclays recently advised UK residents to ensure that their home insurance offers adequate cover for any damage incurred during parties over the festive season.
