Jack Straw is in the news for exposing a general practice of car insurance providers selling customers' data to claims companies.
This selling of customers' personal details is well known within the insurance industry . The car insurance industry is looking to crash as this industry that has been caught red handed selling on personal details of customers to claims-management companies.
Should there have been an increase in your car insurance premium that is most likely to be the reason.
Straw asserts that insurers have been trading their own customers' personal details, knowing that this has resulted in a massive increase in claims.
Acting in role as MP, this scandal came to light as Straw followed up complaints from constituents. He recently had a confrontation with two massive insurers, who admitted to selling personal data to claims companies; the kind of company that advertises their services on daytime TV promising a huge payout should you have been involved in an accident .
Usurping lax rules on proving " whiplash " injuries has driven up claims and payouts. This has meant that the cost of personal injury claims has doubled in the last decade, from £7bn to £14bn.
