It is important that people research their options and fully understand travel insurance policies before deciding on protection that is suitable for them, it has been suggested.
Steve Langan, managing director of Hiscox UK and Ireland, noted individuals must take the time to read through what their agreements do and do not cover in order to have the confidence that the deal meets their personal requirements.
The industry figure was speaking as Hiscox - which also provides home insurance for more than 50,000 homes in the UK, as well as business insurance for over 100,000 small and medium-sized enterprises - unveiled a new annual travel insurance policy that includes up to £10 million emergency medical protection and up to £2 million personal liability cover.
He claimed the deal provides all types of holidaymakers - from sun worshippers to business travellers - "with the peace of mind knowing that if something does go wrong, you'll get the assistance you need to get things back to normal as soon as possible".
The agreement also offers up to £5,000 for travel disruption due to financial failure of providers, such as airlines, hotels and car companies.
