Van insurance provider, Swinton, has given the thumbs up to the news that Ford will pay up to £3,000 towards a brand new van for London based drivers who scrap vans of ten or more years old.
The project aims to help van drivers to get cleaner and greener commercial vehicles . The vans available on the scheme are the Ford Fiesta, Ford Transit Connect and Ford Transit.
The car scrappage scheme, which ended on 31st March 2010, enabled 330,000 customers to benefit from it, with each getting an allowance of up to £1,000 towards a new car . There were a number of dealerships that offered even more than the recommended £1,000 and handed out allowances of £3,000.
Phil Moss, Commercial Vehicle Manager at Swinton Commercial said: "Any van drivers who are considering scrapping their old van for a brand new model should ensure they have adequate van insurance to cover the new model as it is likely to have a higher premium."
