It is essential for people to update their cover if they buy new items for their home, says a representative from Post Office Insurance .
Gerry Barrett, head of the firm, made his comments after research by the firm revealed that many people have bought a plasma television, fridge or digital radio in preparation for watching the Football World Cup at home this summer. He advised people not score an "own goal" by failing to keep their home insurance policy up to date, no matter how the national side play in the competition.
Mr Barrett said: "It seems many people are set to enjoy a 'home match' and will be cheering on their favourite team from the comfort of their living room."
England played their first game of the finals on Saturday evening, drawing 1-1 with the USA . They face Algeria on Friday June 18th at 19:30 BST.
