Customers with AA pet insurance could find that that their pet has one of the most popular names for animals in the UK.
The insurer reviewed 16,000 animals that are covered by its policies and found that the most popular name for the feline and canine variety in 2010 was Molly, which holds the number one spot for the second year running. Poppy also appeared high on the list for both cats and dogs, as did Charlie and Millie.
Some other names highlighted by the insurance company were obviously influenced by people's favourite footballers, such as Rooney and Defoe and even alcoholic drinks, with Guinness and Merlot featuring on the list. Joanne Guillan, from AA's pet insurance, reminded owners of the importance of getting their pet insured . She said: "There's no NHS for the canine and feline kingdoms."
The company is warning subscribers to its other policies of rogue websites charging admin fees for booking driving tests for people.
