The over 65s are being offered a multi annual policy, which covers all trips taken in a year, from Post Office travel insurance .
Rachel Croft, head of travel insurance at the firm, commented that it can be very expensive for older people to get themselves insured, or they may find they have stipulations attached to a policy which get in the way of their holiday . She highlighted how parents often like to go and visit their children while they are away on their gap year as they can stay in a foreign country for less, but that many seniors find that insurance can be costly.
Post Office travel insurance's multi-annual deal enables the policyholder to be covered for any trips they take throughout the year.
Ms Croft explained: "We hope this move will signal the end for seniors to have to buy expensive single-trip policies every time they go on holiday.
