Facebook and Twitter users could face an increase in their home insurance premiums because they display and share personal information on the internet .
Legal and General, the insurance provider, is warning parents to be cautious about their children announcing personal information, such as going on holiday, on popular networking sites as this could lead to higher home insurance premiums. This warning has also been supported by the report called Digital Criminal, which revealed how thieves use these social networking sites to look for potential targets.
According to a reformed burglar, it is very simple and easy for burglars to access social networking websites, target people and gain all the personal information about their home using internet sites like Google Street View . They can get information about when the site is used and when people are not in the house .
With an increasing popularity in social network sites, homeowners are being urged to avoid disclosing personal information online.
