A health professional, speaking on behalf of car insurance provider Admiral, has said that motorists must control their stress levels in order to make sure they are driving safely.
David Moxon, a health psychologist, made his comments following research conducted by Admiral which revealed that 45 per cent of drivers are more likely to lose concentration if they are stressed when they are in their car . He claimed that the most important factor when dealing with stress is making sure thoughts and emotions are under control.
Mr Moxon explained: "Often when people feel this way they start to convince themselves there is nothing they can do to change the situation. This actually couldn't be further from the truth."
The research by Admiral also found that 56 per cent of drivers find that they are more susceptible to road rage if they are feeling anxious. Recently, the firm published a report in which boy and girl racers where named as the worst type of drivers, just slightly ahead of elderly people.
