As the clocks go back and winter draws closer, October is revealed to be the worst month for car insurance claims .
As drivers cope with darker days when the clocks change, 10.4 per cent of all car insurance claims occur in October and 20th October is the worst day for claims, according to Virgin Money Car Insurance . The firm also revealed that 30 per cent of all claims are made during the last three months of the year, which generally prove to be the most challenging for motorists.
Grant Bather, spokesman at Virgin Money, explained: "With the seasons changing, nights drawing in and driving conditions becoming hazardous, motorists should pay extra attention when driving and should make sure that they are equipped should they have an accident or breakdown ."
Mr Bather added that drivers should ensure that their car is fully prepared for winter and check that their car insurance provides the best cover, especially when accidents more likely to happen.
