The Co-Operative has published a free guide which offers advice and support to help consumers decide what options would be best for them and their loved ones after they have passed away.
Research conducted by the insurance provider amongst its customers revealed that people wanted to be able to get all of their services in one place. Ian Mackie, managing director of funeral planning, said that the Co-operative was unique in providing will writing, probate and estate administration services and funeral planning services all together.
He said: "As a provider of both funeral and probate and estate administration services, we understand the benefit of having complete plans in place, removing unnecessary worry and upset for those left behind."
The number of funeral plans taken out with the Co-Operative increased by 28 per cent in the first six months of this year and the company believes that this is due to consumers losing faith in savings and investments schemes traditionally used to save for funeral costs .
