A new offer from Direct Line is giving new customers 12 months pet insurance for the price of 10.
The offer is available whether customers gets a pet insurance quote online or via the telephone . The insurer quoted a study conducted by Mintel, which calculated that the average price of veterinary treatment for an injured or ill pet is currently around £715.
Chris Price, had of Direct Line Pet Insurance, said: "Sadly many dogs and cats have to be put down every year because owners are cutting back on insurance and then cannot afford to cover the costly vet bills associated with an accident or illness ."
Mr Price added that pet owners should remember to protect themselves against expensive vet bills by taking out insurance for their pets . By having the right pet insurance pets will be able to get the medical assistance they need, while the bill is settled by the insurance company .
