As people prepare to head of to music festivals this summer, esure is advising them to check their home contents insurance to see if their belongings are covered in case of theft .
According to the insurer, those attending festivals need to be extra vigilant as many of them will be taking their mp3 players, mobile phones as well as cash along with them. The firm notes that thefts which occur when a tent is not locked will probably not be covered. Also, those living away from home at university need to take out their own policies as they will not be covered by that of their parents .
Head of risk and underwriting at esure home insurance, said: "For those who do decide to take valuables to festivals, it's crucial to make sure they're adequately insured and that steps are taken to protect personal belongings at all times."
Some of festivals taking place in the UK this year include Reading and Leeds, Glastonbury, Truck and T in the Park .
