Parents across the UK are spending less money on themselves in a bid to make sure their children have the best clothes and accessories, according to Sheilas Wheels Home Insurance .
Research conducted by the firm revealed that 76 per cent of parents are spending less on clothes than they used to. In addition, a further 51 per cent said that they have swapped their own expensive garments and now shop at stores such as Peacocks and Primark so that their children can continue to get designer clothes and top-end brands.
Sheila's Wheels spokeswoman Jacky Brown said: "Parents are clearly feeling the pressure to keep their children looking good. It's crucial not to underestimate the cost to replace a child's wardrobe as the value kids clothing and accessories really does add up and that's why it's important to have ample contents insurance ."
