Mobile personal possessions need to be covered by home insurance

Sony Walkman, the gadget that changed listening habits, recently celebrated its 30th anniversary. With over 32 million MP3 sales a year now in the UK alone, it is essential that ‘mobile’ personal possessions are covered by home insurance .

Research conducted by Tescocompare.com found that over a third of personal property thefts involve mobile phones or other electrical goods .

Debra Williams at Tescocompare commented: "Very few of us actually realise how much value we carry around in our bags or on our person on a day to day basis. It’s only ever when it is too late and we come to add up our losses we realise how expensive the personal possessions we carry around really are."

MS Williams also said that items such as MP3 players, iPhones, mobile phones, blackberries and digital cameras that people carry around with them, as well as expensive wallets, purses and handbags all add up and it is essential to ensure that the personal possessions cover in an insurance policy is adequate.
