Lloyds TSB have released a list of the most bizarre insurance claims of 2008, which includes a man who claimed on his household contents cover after shooting his own television .
The insurer says the man, who refurbishes old guns, didn't realise the one he was holding was loaded and accidentally shot his TV set.
Other cases included a man whose glasses were taken by a magpie and countless claims of mobile phones, MP3 players and laptops being flushed down toilets or dropped in the bath .
Phil Loney, managing director, Lloyds TSB Insurance, said: "I never cease to be intrigued by the variety of claims we receive day in, day out. Our 2008 quirky claims round-up highlights that it's truly impossible to predict what's around the corner and while it's important to take sensible security, maintenance and safety steps, having a good insurance policy is vital to ensure long term peace of mind."
