A new third party boat insurance policy has been unveiled by Navigators and General (N&G), part of Zurich Financial Services Group.
The new boat insurance policy will provide third party cover only as this is now often required for boats using inland waterways, marinas, harbours and boat yards. It will provide cover solely against the cost of damage to surrounding to craft and is not fully comprehensive cover .
Head of Navigators and General, James Roberts, said: "We’ve seen increasing instances of boat fires which have destroyed four or five other boats in the same yard, and weather-related claims where wind blows the owner’s boat into those close-by causing significant damage and therefore cost for the owner."
Pollution cover is also included in the Navigators and General boat insurance policy and will pay for the clear up and removal of the owner’s boat should it sink and then cause an oil leak .
