Homeowners planning to carry out DIY work over the Easter weekend are being offered advice from the home insurance provider esure .
The insurer suggests that having cover in place is vital if people are to undertake work around the home, as the expense if it happens to go wrong can be huge. Home insurance can be essential if bonfires spread to neighbours' properties and accidental damage cover can help replace carpets ruined by paint or contents damaged by broken water pipes .
Mike Pickard, head of risk and underwriting at esure home insurance, said: "It can be easy to bite off more than we can chew when it comes to DIY, so remember to do your homework and make sure you're familiar with the basics before getting your hands dirty."
Recently, the firm also gave tips on reducing car insurance premiums such as adding partners to policies under the terms 'insured and spouse', rather than ‘main driver with one named'.
