Two bridal magazines have stressed the importance of wedding insurance .
You and Your Wedding and Cosmopolitan Bride have warned couples planning their nuptials to take out suitable cover. Matt Salmon, group publishing director for both magazines, said: "If a function is costing £15,000 to £20,000 then insuring it is a fairly sensible thing to do."
He added that brides should be insured against disasters such as the venue having a fire although he explained that anything that is paid for by credit card would have a certain amount of insurance .
Recent research by You and Your Wedding, revealed that the average wedding now costs £20,273. The biggest expense is entertainment, with the honeymoon being the second highest cost.
Confetti.co.uk found that 80 to 85 per cent of couples do not insure their wedding adequately and wedding insurers Ecclesiastical said damage to the wedding dress, jewellery or other items of clothing is the biggest cause for a claim .
