Holders of Sainsburys pet insurance are being offered a deal that will provide them with three months of free cover and a 15 per cent discount.
By renewing their policies, direct debit customers will not have to pay anything for the first three months and will get a discount if they buy online. Neal Devine, Sainsbury's pet insurance manager, said that with an increase in vets fees, insurance is "more important than ever before". He also said it was a false economy to compromise on pet insurance in order to save money .
Recently, Sainsbury's held a round-table discussion on pet insurance together with Citigate Dewe Rogerson . At the event, Mark Woodhead of Money Expert called for standardisation of pet insurance policies and for a minimum cover for vet fees to be highlighted.
Philip Anderson, executive director of Citigate Dewe Rogerson, said that with advances in veterinary medicine, cost is likely to increase and cover is therefore even more essential.
