Sainsbury's and Barclays offer new insurance discounts

Sainsbury’s is offering new customers a 25 per cent discount on home insurance if they buy both buildings and contents cover together before October 6th.

Included in the range is unlimited buildings cover and maximum no-claims discounts of up to 30 per cent. Neil Laird, home insurance manager for Sainbury's says that policies vary widely and recommends that customers compare levels of cover as well as price.

Customers applying for life insurance at Barclays will get a 15 per cent discount on their premiums and also £15 worth of vouchers for Marks and Spencer . Also, anyone getting a quote for life insurance from the Barclays website in September will be entered into a draw. The prizes on offer are £2,000 a month for a year or a lump sum of £24,000.

Barclays' life insurance is provided by Norwich Union . Gary Duggan, managing director for consumer lending and insurance for Barclays, commented that many people are discouraged from taking out life insurance as they believe it is expensive or complicated.
