Students living in the modern age now have a range of expensive accessories and costly electronic equipment which includes includes computers, laptops, mp3 players, cd players, ipods, clothes and expensive mobile phones . They also have a collection of costly textbooks . The average student studying in the UK has on average, £1,500 worth of belongings within their room or dwellings .
Only 1 in 5 have cover for their belongings even though many are the victims of robbery and theft . Some students may find that their belongings are covered by their parents insurance policy, as some insurers offer a cover that insures property even when it is outside the family home .
