An internet comparison site is advising households to check their liability insurance cover, especially if their home is used as a place of business for
for external services such as cleaners and builders .
According to compareTheMarket.com, having the right level of cover will protect people from receiving a huge bill if someone accidentally hurts themselves while in their home.
Jeremy Moll, an insurance expert at compareTheMarket.com, explained that the majority of insurers include building and contents liability cover as standard on their insurance policies . He said: " Personal liability payout might apply where a friend trips over a loose carpet in your home and breaks their leg, whereas employee liability is where you are employing someone at home such as a cleaner or builder and they trip on your loose carpet ."
The website is encouraging people to check their level of cover after recent news that a couple are being sued by their midwife after she tripped over a childs buggy during a routine house visit.
