Group travel insurance advised for sporty travellers

Groups planning a golfing holiday in Spain this year are advised to take out group insurance suggests a leading broker .

Direct Line Travel Insurance say that group insurance will provide travellers interested in sport an easy way to reduce costs and make sure that their Spanish holiday is suitably protected.

Head of the insurance company Chris Price comments: "If you and your mates are heading off on a sporting holiday, you can get together and benefit from a group discount."

A recent report from the Foreign and Commonwealth Office has revealed that 31 per cent of UK holidaymakers don’t have adequate sports insurance cover when they go on holiday abroad .

A survey by the Office for National Statistics Social Trends 2008 has found that 69 per cent of adults in England have participated in a sport in the past year, while 21 per cent regularly engage in more than 90 minutes of sporting activity ever week.
